PSY2440 Theory & Practice of Psychotherapy
In this course, students will examine the theory, techniques, and research on the major contemporary systems of psychotherapy. Major theorists will be investigated, including Freud, Jung, Adler, Rogers, Ellis, etc. Psychotherapeutic techniques, approaches, and practical applications are explored, including Psychoanalysis, Adlerian, Existential, Person-Centered, Gestalt, Behavior, Cognitive-Behavioral, Choice, Feminist, and Postmodern, and Family Systems Therapies, with particular emphasis on Integrative Perspectives and multicultural application.
