PSY2230 Motivation & Emotion

In this course, students will examine the psychological factors that are considered to be the source of and the influence on motivation. We will survey different theories of motivation, both conscious and nonconscious, and explore the biological, psychological, social, and cultural factors that can affect motivation. Students will investigate the differences between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, implicit versus conscious influences, self-determination and control, and emotional versus rational decision-making. Students will work on practical application activities that demonstrate how motivation affects their own life choices, goals, and outcomes.
